Calderdale Residential Burglaries and Vehicle Crime Halifax Central

For the week 12 to 18 July we have seen offences of full residential burglary,  theft from motor vehicle or vehicle interference* and theft or motor vehicles committed in the area.

Full burglary – two houses entered via doors believed left unlocked

Theft from motor vehicle. Vehicle entered after small hole drilled in door panel exposing locking mechanism (tools taken),   registration plates unscrewed and stolen and  a lawnmower taken from rear of lorry after padlock securing same was forced.

Theft of motor vehicles/vehicle interference -  youths disturbed tampering with chain securing motorcycle and ran off from the scene.  Honda PES stolen, after security chain forced and a Lexmoto moped was stolen , again after the security chain was forced.  Nissan Navara pick up stolen by unknown means.

*vehicle interference - Section 9 of the Criminal Attempts Act 1981 creates this offence
A person is guilty of the offence of vehicle interference if he interferes with a motor vehicle or trailer or with anything carried in or on a motor vehicle or trailer with the intention that an offence specified below shall be committed by himself or some other person.

These offences are:
theft of the motor vehicle or trailer or part of it;
theft of anything carried in or on the motor vehicle or trailer; and
an offence under section 12(1) of the Theft Act 1968 (taking and driving away without consent);
