Dear Resident
You are receiving this because you live in the vicinity of a burglary that occurred on Heaton Grove on Monday 19th October between 0600hrs and 1000hrs and the method of attack was by snapping the cylinder lock allowing entry. Unknown suspect(s) have forced entry to a property and stolen personal belongings from within the home. The victim discovered that a door lock had been broken and part of the internal locking mechanism had been removed. It was then established that a purse containing an unknown amount of cash, bank cards, and a handbag had been stolen from inside the property. Police are appealing for information and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the relevant times. Residents are encouraged to check any CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage that may assist enquiries.
Firstly if you have CCTV or a doorbell camera please check it between 0530hrs and 1030hrs to check if you had any activations.
Secondly if you have a door with a cylinder lock (composite or UPVC doors mainly) please check the lock.
As a precaution, please check that your door locks are secure and correctly fitted. We recommend anti-snap locks with a 3 Star rating, certified to either TS007 or SS312 standards. These locks are available from many locksmiths and security providers. Whilst we do not wish to alarm residents, it is always worthwhile reviewing your home security and reporting anything that seems suspicious. If you have any information regarding this or any other burglary, please contact us on 101. Thank you for helping to keep our communities safe.
