Off-Road Bike Team - September Update |
||
|
Dear Resident, September has been an exceptionally successful month for the team. We achieved our highest monthly seizure total to date, with 42 vehicles seized. This also brings our year-to-date total to 174 seizures, exceeding any previous annual total with three months of the year still remaining.
The team's performance continues to contribute positively to divisional demand management. Year to date, the division remains the second best-performing division in relation to calls for service.
Our seizure activity has been spread across the Wakefield division and includes several notable incidents with the following of note in the Eastmoor area:
In addition to enforcement activity, the team has continued to support wider policing demands. During one incident, officers assisted in the search for a high-risk missing person believed to be near one of Wakefield's canal routes. Utilising the mobility of the off-road motorcycles, a large search area was covered quickly, and the missing person was located. After initially attempting to flee, she was safely detained and handed over to response officers to receive the appropriate care and support.
In a separate incident, reports were received of a male face-down and unresponsive in a river. The team's ability to access difficult terrain enabled officers to reach the location ahead of the fire service and air ambulance. The male was located having fallen from his bicycle into the water. Officers assisted in dragging him safely from the riverbank back up the 6-foot drop, before he was handed over to attending emergency services and transported to hospital for treatment.
