Bogus Workman Scam in Thornes, Wakefield

Residents are being warned following a report of a bogus workman targeting an elderly resident in the Thornes area of Wakefield.

An 88-year-old woman who lives alone was approached at her home by a male who claimed her gutters needed cleaning. He offered to carry out the work for £320 and was given a part payment of £120. The male stated he would return to complete the work, but he never came back and the money was not refunded.

Bogus workmen often target older and vulnerable people, using pressure and deception to obtain money for work that is unnecessary, overpriced, or never carried out.
