🚨 Crime Prevention Advice for Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux Owners 🚨
West Yorkshire Police is urging owners of Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux vehicles to take extra precautions following ongoing concerns around organised vehicle theft.
Criminals are increasingly using sophisticated methods to target keyless vehicles, including relay devices that amplify the signal from vehicle keys inside homes, as well as specialist electronic equipment designed to bypass vehicle security systems. Intelligence has identified both the Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux as attractive targets for organised offenders.
In the two months up to the end of August, 37 Nissan Navara’s and 21 Toyota Hilux vehicles were reported stolen across West Yorkshire.
Following recent investigations, three men were arrested in Bradford last week in connection with such offences and have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Help protect your vehicle by following these simple crime prevention measures:
• Store vehicle keys and spare keys in a Faraday pouch or signal-blocking container.
• Keep keys away from external doors and windows.
• Never leave keys in visible locations within your home.
• Consider using additional physical security devices such as steering wheel locks.
• Ensure your vehicle is locked and secure at all times.
Taking a few extra precautions could make all the difference and help prevent you from becoming a victim of vehicle crime.
