Dear Resident,
Given the darkness of the tints on this Mercedes-Benz, there's no doubt that we saw it before the driver saw us, stopped on Leeds Road, BD3, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt for starters.
An examination of the driver’s side window indicated just 16% of light passing through it (the legal limit is 70%). But the story doesn't end there... We then embarked on an all too familiar journey through the excuses and tall tales of the insurance that never was, starting with being a named driver before moving on to 3rd party cover from another policy. From there we proved another policy produced to be fraudulent and finally, our favourite old faithful tale of a Snapchat broker having sorted it all. Quite why our driver thought that having access to 4 different (albeit all worthless) policy documents would somehow get them through a Steerside vehicle stop remains unclear.
Our driver had a long journey to complete, but unfortunately for them it would not be by car as we seized it. We were kind enough to check the rail timetable which showed an arrival in West Midlands Police area by about 7 a.m. the following morning. Who doesn't love seeing the sun rise from the comfort of a rail carriage anyway? Hopefully our driver booked an open return ticket for their day in court for the various road traffic offences.
