Dear Resident,
On 21st August, following information provided by local residents regarding an illegal motor bike causing nuisance in the Stanley Road area of Wakefield, officers from Wakefield District Off-Road Bike Team attended an address on Back Mount Pleasant. Utilising powers under the Police Reform Act 2002 and the Road Traffic Act 1988, they were able to locate and seize the vehicle, thereby preventing it from disrupting the local community any further. The rider is to be prosecuted for the illegal use of this vehicle as well as riding whilst disqualified.
This off-road bike (pictured below) was seized as a direct result of the information provided by members of the public to the Off-Road Bike Team who will act confidentially upon any community intelligence provided which identifies the offender or the whereabouts of the vehicle.
Members of the public are encouraged to continue report any information they have about nuisance bikes, either occurring or being kept within Wakefield district, directly to the Off-Road Bike Team by email at wakefield.offroadbikes@westyorkshire.police.uk or to Crimestoppers at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously
