Op Orion Activity

In the last couple of weeks, Op Orion has continued to tackle criminality across the district. The team continues to address retail crime, with several arrests made for shoplifting. On each occasion, the suspects were charged and remanded to court with bail conditions preventing them from entering the premises from which they had stolen.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old male on suspicion of drug dealing following a stop and search on Hunger Hill. A subsequent search of his home address resulted in further drug seizures and the arrest of two additional occupants: another 32-year-old male and a 59-year-old female. As well as controlled drugs, officers seized what they suspect to be the proceeds of crime, including a high-value collection of collectible cards, precious metals and cash, with a combined value in excess of £50,000. While enquiries remain at an early stage, police will seek to confiscate these items as suspected proceeds of crime.

The team also continues to tackle anti-social vehicle use. Officers were involved in the pursuit of a cloned motorcycle (you can see some of the BWV footage on our Facebook page), which resulted in the arrest and reporting of a 29-year-old male for various road traffic and drug possession offences. The vehicle was seized under powers relating to no insurance. This is one of eight vehicles already seized by Op Orion this month.
