Leeds East Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), working in partnership with Operation Leodis, have successfully carried out proactive enforcement activity in response to concerns raised by the local community.
Officers from Leeds East NPT and Operation Leodis have been engaging with residents and partners to understand and address issues affecting the local communities in Harehills. Information provided in the community highlighted suspected drug activity, prompting targeted patrols and intelligence-led operations in the area.
As a result of this focused work, officers conducted seven stop and searches in the Harehills area and attended an address on Bayswater Mount, Harehills on Wednesday 3rd June 2026.
The deployments led to the arrest of a wanted adult female, who was subsequently found in possession of Class A drugs. The adult female has now been formally charged with offences and will be dealt with through the courts.
This outcome demonstrates the ongoing commitment of Leeds East NPT and Operation Leodis to tackle and disrupt criminality and anti-social behaviour activity, whilst improving community safety as part of the Clear, Hold and Build initiative known locally as CommUnity Harehills.
Sergeant Ian Campbell lead for CommUnity Harehills said:
“Community information is vital in helping us identify and respond to local concerns. This arrest and subsequent charge sends a clear message that criminality and drugs activity will not be tolerated. We will continue to act on intelligence and work alongside our communities to make our neighbourhoods safer.
Residents are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious activity and sharing information with police, as this plays a crucial role in supporting ongoing operations and safeguarding communities.
Anyone with information can contact West Yorkshire Police via 101 or report anonymously through Crimestoppers, as action will be taken to provide safer communities for all."
