🚨 E‑Bike Enforcement – Bradford East 🚨 - Canterbury Avenue, Little Horton, BD5 |
||
|
Dear Resident,
A reminder that not all “e-bikes” are what they seem…
This Hidoes Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle is advertised as being limited to 15.5 mph, the legal maximum for Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPCs). However, officers on Canterbury Avenue stopped it after observing it travelling at a much higher speed.
Checks revealed the bike was capable of 35.2 mph, meaning it falls outside EAPC regulations and is classed as a motor vehicle — likely due to aftermarket modifications.
The rider held only a provisional licence and was uninsured. Claims that it was sold as “legal” do not remove responsibility — it is up to the rider to ensure their vehicle complies with the law.
✅ Vehicle seized 👉 If it goes faster than 15.5 mph without pedalling, it’s not an e-bike — it’s a motor vehicle and must be insured, registered, and ridden with the correct licence.
Stay safe and ride legal.
Kind regards,
