Theft of Roof Mounted Tent Boxes

There has been the theft of a vehicle roof mounted tent box on Edale Avenue Huddersfield some time after 0500 hrs on Wednesday 15th April.

We are starting to see the theft of tent boxes particularly as we approach that time of year when we begin to think about holidays.

Securing a Tent Box against theft requires a number of different approaches -

Use security nuts to prevent the quick removal.

Install a motion activated alarm.

Utilise GPS trackers such as Air Tags to aid recovery should it be subject of theft.

Park your vehicle in a well lit area.

Park your vehicle in an area covered by CCTV, consider a video doorbell alerting you to movement as well as providing CCTV coverage.

Install specialized tamper proof brackets.

Remove the tent , if possible when not in use for extended periods of time.

By combining these methods you will significantly reduce the risk of theft by increasing the time and noise required for a thief to remove the tent or deter the offender.
