Going away for the Easter bank holiday? |
||
|
Good morning Calderdale.
With the Easter bank holiday just around the corner and some of us will be going away on holiday. Please look at this post so you know what measures to take to protect your home while you're away.
Make sure you have locks that have a 3-star security rating. This lock works against most burglary methods. If you have French doors, look into getting a PAT lock for these.
Use segment timers for lights/lamps in a room upstairs. This paired up with a TV simulator gives the impression someone is home which will then deter potential offenders.
Speak with your neighbours and let them know you will be away and look out for each other. Make sure to set your alarms if you have one in your home. These two measures together means you have an audible alarm for your neighbour to hear if someone was to break into your property.
Keep all valuables in a properly fitted safe where possible. Never leave them on display or in a jewellery box on show. Put them somewhere you would least expect someone to find them.
If you have 2 vehicles at your home, try leave one on the drive to give the impression someone is at home.
Report anything suspicious to the Police. Should you have any information about either burglary please contact us on 101.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and stay safe. | ||
