🚨 Crime Prevention Alert: Increase in Theft From Motor Vehicles We are seeing a recent rise in thefts from motor vehicles, including the targeting of registration plates. Please take a moment to review the guidance below and help us reduce opportunities for crime in your area. 🔑 Key Advice to Help Protect Your Vehicle 1. Always lock your vehicle Even if you’re only stepping away for a short time. Check that windows and sunroofs are fully closed. 2. Remove all valuables Items such as bags, laptops, tools, loose change, and sunglasses can tempt opportunistic thieves. Remove them or store them out of sight before your journey ends. 3. Protect your registration plates Number plates are frequently stolen and used in further crime. Consider using anti-theft screws or plate-locking kits to make them harder to remove. 4. Park in well-lit, busy locations Where possible, choose areas with good natural surveillance or CCTV. Driveways or garages should be kept lit with motion-sensor lighting. 5. Don’t leave keys near doors or windows Keyless entry systems can be vulnerable to signal boosting devices. Store keys in a signal-blocking pouch (“Faraday bag”) overnight. 6. Report suspicious activity If you notice someone trying door handles or acting suspiciously around vehicles, report it to the police on 101, or 999 in an emergency. 🛡️ Working Together to Prevent Crime Your vigilance helps keep our communities safe.
