Horbury residents - Bogus caller warning.

Good morning

Local residents are advised to remain vigilant after reports of a woman knocking on doors in the Horbury area asking for money to “get into Wakefield and away from her partner”. This occurred on Tuesday 03 February at 23:00 on Peel Street.

The same woman has reportedly been making similar approaches in the area since November 2025, primarily targeting older residents.

The female is described as: thin build, 5ft 6, long blonde hair tied up, wearing a hooded coat.

Please be aware that this may be a scam.

Remember:

You don’t have to let anyone into your home.

Do not give money to anyone that approaches you on the street/at your home address unexpectedly.

Keep your door locked and use a door chain or viewer before answering.

Report any suspicious callers to the police via 101 (or 999 in an emergency).

Check on vulnerable neighbours that may be more at risk.

Local officers are aware of the reports and enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual.
