Dear Resident
You are receiving this because you live in the vicinity of a burglary that occurred on Thorn Wood, this occurred in the early hours of Monday 19th January at approx. 0447hrs and the method of attack was by blow torch and then snapping the cylinder lock allowing entry.
Seen on CCTV - 0447hrs 16/01/2026 two suspects wearing all black tracksuits, black face coverings and gloves, Approach property on foot from GALSWORTHY AVENUE then enter property via a locked gate at the side of the property, the suspects then attempt to blowtorch the lock of the rear upvc door, suspects then notice the CCTV camera and flea the scene back onto to THORN WOOD and ran left towards HATHAWAY AVENUE at 0455hrs
Firstly if you have CCTV or a doorbell camera please check it between Monday 19th January between 0430hrs and 0500hrs to check if you had any activations.
Secondly if you have a door with a cylinder lock (composite or UPVC doors mainly) please check the lock.
Make sure you are satisfied with the rating and is fitted correctly. The locks we recommend have 3 stars written on the front (see image) and are TS007 or SS312 rated. Many firms offer these anti-snap locks. Whilst we do not wish to scare anyone, it is always good to review your own security, and report anything suspicious to the Police. Should you have any information about either burglary please contact us on 101. Thanks
