Vision Zero.

On Tuesday 25th November PC 5974 and PC 2353 from Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood policing team attended various locations across the ward areas namely Stranglands Lane, The Croft Knottingley and Ackworth Road Pontefract in relation to recent complaints from residents regards excess speed. 1 Driver was issued a traffic offence report for driving at 42mph in 30 mph limit he will be dealt with in due course. This forms part of our commitment to Vision zero. 

West Yorkshire Police and Vision Zero

Vision Zero is a road safety aim to eliminate all traffic deaths and serious injuries, while increasing safe, healthy and equitable mobility for all.

We believe that no death or serious injury is acceptable on our roads, and we are working in partnership to reduce them to zero by 2040 in West Yorkshire.

The West Yorkshire Vision Zero partnership consists of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the five local authorities, West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, National Highways, Brake, and road safety campaigners.

The West Yorkshire Vision Zero approach to road safety centres the importance of the Fatal Five in contributing to a large proportion of fatal and serious collisions.

The Fatal Five is comprised of:
