Bonfire night 2025 |
||
Good afternoon,
We want you all to have a safe and enjoyable bonfire night and would like to share some advice and tips on keeping yourself and others safe and secure.
Attend organised events where possible – this is the safest way to enjoy a bonfire and fireworks
If you do have your own bonfire keep them small and manageable and build them away from houses, garages, sheds, fences, overhead cables, trees, bushes and vehicles
Keep pets indoors
Never use flammable liquids – paraffin or petrol – to light the fire.
Avoid drinking alcohol whilst in charge of a bonfire or fireworks and particularly when supervising children.
In case of an emergency, keep buckets of water, the garden hose or a fire extinguisher ready.
Don’t leave the bonfire unattended!
Make sure your fireworks conform to British Standards BS 7114, EN 14035 or EN 15947
Keep fireworks in a closed box and use/light them one at a time.
Light the firework at arm’s length using a taper or fuse wick and stand well back - never return to a firework once it has been lit.
Make sure that any bonfires are out, and the surroundings are made safe before leaving it unattended.
Respect Emergency Service Workers as they are here to help and not be hurt. Any incidents of antisocial behaviour must be reported to the Police.
