Dear Resident, On Thursday 16th October, a high-visibility Day of Action was carried out at Outwood Park, focussing on the hotspots for anti-social behaviour, drugs, small fires, and fly-tipping. The day began with a briefing led by West Yorkshire Fire Prevention Manager Wagner and WYP Wakefield District Commander, Ch Supt Bainbridge, in front of the representatives from our partner agencies, local Councillors and members of the Outwood Community.
An environmental visual audit was carried out with local residents taking a walk around the park with staff from the various agencies, pointing out the areas and associated issues that are affecting them as local residents but also affecting everyone who uses the park. Police officers spoke with every member of the public that attended, offering advice in relation to the issues described above but also providing information about the Neighbourhood Police structure, how best to contact us to report an issue, Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and Community Alert. In addition, a contact point was set up outside the Spar, where members of the public could speak to their Police Comunnunity Support Officers about these issues.
This was a successful event with lots of intelligence received and problem-solving opportunities to be developed. The engagement with the local community was very well received.
North West NPT would like to thank WYFRS Prevention Team & Green Watch, WMDC Park Rangers, ASB team & Community Coordinators, Vico Homes, Outwood WMC, and our WYP colleagues: Drone Pilots, Off-Road Bike Team, Dog Handler, and Crime Prevention Officers for their support on the day. We would also like to thank the local community for joining us.
