Local Priorities Shoplifting Message


I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Shoplifting, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Officers from Leeds East Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) responded to reports of Theft from shop at Home Bargains, Crossgates Shopping Centre, Leeds this afternoon (8th July).

The suspect, an adult male was located nearby, where he was arrested for being wanted on warrant and for Theft from shop.
The suspect remains in Police custody at this time, pending investigation and interview.

Crossgates Shopping Centre is a local priority for Leeds East NPT, as part of the ‘Summer Surge’ campaign designed to address retail and street crime.

Police Community Support officers continue to deploy to the location and recently delivered two crime prevention and engagement events inside the shopping centre, with the events held on the 7th and 19th June 2025.

Leeds East NPT will continue to deploy to the location, with a view to disrupting retail and street crime, identifying those involved in such criminality and taking relevant enforcement action to keep businesses and communities safe and feeling safe.
