Local Priorities Anti-social behaviour - General Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour - General, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Leeds East Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) alongside the Leeds East Crime Prevention Officer, Leeds District Anti-Social Behaviour Team Sergeant and Link Officers, the Off-Road Bike Team and Leeds City Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team officers attended the Springs Retail Park, Leeds yesterday (3rd July 2025) as part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week.

Following reports of anti-social behaviour and vehicular nuisance across the site, police and partners attended to the location to engage with communities and businesses offering a wide range of information, advice crime prevention materials, key details on how to report anti-social behaviour and the help and support that is available.

Officers engaged with multiple members of the public and businesses at the location, gathering intelligence, listening to community concerns, whilst providing key information, policing updates and advice.

In addition, this week has seen NPT Teams proactively deploy across the ward providing multi-lingual anti-social behaviour contact leaflets, visits at local schools to deliver educational inputs, community contact points and held partnership agency meetings to discuss crime and anti-social behaviour.

Did you know there are many different types of anti-social behaviour and in some cases, other local authorities are responsible for dealing with certain issues?

Leeds East Neighbourhood Policing Team, Leeds District operational support departments and partner agencies are committed to addressing anti-social behaviour demands, and will continue to deploy across local communities to address reported incidents and local concerns.

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.

The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour.

These include:

  • civil injunctions.
  • criminal behaviour orders.
  • public spaces protection orders.
  • community protection notices.
  • dispersal powers.
  • closure powers.

The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/report-it, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
