Leeds Man Jailed For Causing Death of a Man in Micklefield

A Leeds man has been jailed for causing the death of a man in Micklefield.

Keiran Hunt appeared at Leeds Crown Court this afternoon to be sentenced after he admitted causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

Hunt, aged 37, of Field View in Micklefield was sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison.

He was charged in May with the offences relating to a collision which resulted in the death of cyclist John Shelton from Tyldesley in Manchester.

The collision occurred on Ridge Road around 2pm on Monday 28 April 2025. John suffered catastrophic injuries, and despite emergency medical care, died a short time later at the scene.

The vehicle, a VW Golf, failed to stop at the scene and was found abandoned and burnt out in the Potternewton area of Leeds.

Following an investigation by the Major Collision Enquiry Team, Hunt was identified as the driver of the Golf and was subsequently arrested and later charged.
