Yesterday morning, PC Romans and PC Harrison from Castleford NPT were on patrol in Castleford town centre when they were alerted to the presence of a well-known shoplifter, who was wanted for multiple offences, on a nearby street.

As officers approached, the suspect fled on foot. PC Romans gave chase while PC Harrison attempted to intercept using the police vehicle. Thanks to quick-thinking members of the public at a local café, officers were given directions that helped coordinate a swift response.

With support from Response Officers, the team located the suspect hiding in the cellar of a nearby property. He was arrested for multiple shop thefts, breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), and recalled to prison.

A second man was also arrested at the scene for obstructing a police officer and assisting an offender.
