Attempted garage burglary - Station Road area Sandal/Agbrigg.

Good Afternoon

There has been an attempted garage burglary in the Station Road area Sandal/Agbrigg. This occurred early hours of 23/01/25

Please consider the following precautions and advice:

  • Door defenders/garage door blocker – these fit to the outside of the garage door and has a T bar shaped restrictor and a quality locking device.
  •

  • Coach bolts to secure the shed hinge hasp and staple as it uses a nut and cannot be easily pulled away.
  •

  • Use a closed shackle padlock.

  • Lock large items together – makes it harder for them to be removed in bulk.

  • If you have a household alarm fitted think about extending the system into the garage area or use a standalone/battery operated sensor alarm.

  • Security marking – to improve the chances of getting them back in the event of loss or theft.
  •

  • Consider setting up a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
  •

Please see the attached leaflet for further information/advice, this can also be found on https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/advice/home-security/home-security/shed-and-garage-security

As always, if you see anyone acting in a suspicious manner or witness a crime taking place, please contact West Yorkshire Police on 101 or 999 (in an emergency) or report online.

For further information about setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme please send and email to: wyp.nhw@westyorkshire.police.uk. Please include your full name and address.
