Good afternoon We have been made aware of an attempt theft of an Adria motorhome from Baileygate industrial estate, Pontefract on Tuesday 12 November and an Elddis Autoquest motorhome from Pineberry Way, Knottingley on Wednesday 13 November. The quarter window had been damaged on both vehicles and entry gained. Luckily the owners had fitted a steering wheel lock and immobiliser to their motorhomes and this had deterred the thieves. Securing your motorhome Consider using security posts to block off your storage area. Use a steering wheel lock.Use wheel clamps and wheel locks to immobilise your motorhome. There are a number of models available, some cover the wheel and some lock the wheel through gaps in the wheel. Think about installing an immobiliser on your vehicle where a unique PIN or code sequence is inputted before it will start.Consider fitting a tracking device.Fit an alarm and use it whenever the motorhome is vacated.Find approved security products at www.soldsecure.com Secure storage If you don’t store your motorhome at home, look for a storage site operated by the Caravan Storage site Owners Association - www.cassoa.co.uk Check to see if it offers good security measures, for example security staff or CCTV.Remember if you can enter the storage area and remove your motorhome without being approached, then so can a thief. |
