Enforcement operation following intelligence re drug dealing

Dear Resident

On Wednesday 20th March, officers from Wakefield West NPT conducted a joint operation with Licencing Enforcement Officers following intelligence from the local community which suggested that people were dealing drugs in the Lupset area and using taxis to get around.

In total 28 taxi vehicles were stopped in the area and the drivers were spoken to and advised about this issue. Licences were checked and vehicle inspections were also carried out resulting in:

Two vehicles suspended; one for no MOT and another for a tyre fault.
Two rectification notices were issued; one of these was for a vehicle that had damage which had not been reported.
Two drivers have been sent a letter of warning as their identification was not clearly on display.

We would like to thank those members of the public who raised this issue with us.

If you have any information regarding the supply of drugs you can report it to us online Report it | West Yorkshire Police or anonymously via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
